We have completed a series of specialist training courses for teachers, but we will continue our mission to support schools in the fight against multimedia addiction in future projects!
Over the past two years, the project ‘Świętokrzyskie – development and partnership for professional counselling’ has systematically supported teachers from the region in improving their pedagogical skills. Thanks to a series of training courses and workshops, participants gained knowledge and practical skills in the areas of child rights and safety, recognising behavioural addictions, supporting pupils in emotional crisis and responding to the challenges of modern schools.
On 9 December 2025, Primary School No. 12 in Kielce hosted the final training session in the series entitled ‘Contemporary competences essential for the protection of children's rights and safety at school’, organised by the Association Integration Europe-East.
The meeting was led by psychologist Dr Katarzyna Krzystanek, who presented teachers with an accessible yet in-depth overview of behavioural addictions, such as excessive use of smartphones, computer games, social media and online shopping. The presenter pointed out that these types of addictions are increasingly affecting school-age children, impacting their emotional functioning, peer relationships and academic performance.
Particular emphasis was placed on the role of teachers in the process of early recognition of warning signs. Dr Krzystanek emphasised that it is teachers, who have daily contact with students, who may be the first to notice changes in behaviour, decreased concentration, social withdrawal or excessive irritability. Training participants had the opportunity to learn about specific examples of school situations and tools that help them respond in an appropriate and supportive manner, while respecting the rights of the child.
The training also provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and reflect on cooperation between the school, parents and specialists. Participants emphasised that the knowledge they gained increased their sense of competence and readiness to take preventive action. The meeting at Primary School No. 12 in Kielce showed how important it is to invest in teacher development so that schools can effectively respond to the challenges of the modern world and truly care for the safety and well-being of children.
We would like to remind you that all activities within the project ‘Świętokrzyskie – development and partnership for professional counselling’ are free of charge, thanks to funding from the National Institute of Freedom – Centre for Civil Society Development.
Association Integration Europe-East would like to express its sincere gratitude to the teachers and students from Świętokrzyskie who participated in our training courses and workshops. We would also like to thank the school principals for their hospitality and invaluable support in the implementation of our project.
